NOTICE:
We have no connection with the “Maranatha Chapel” in Harlan, IN. We had never even heard of this church before this week, when emails started coming to us complaining about a controversial political sign they apparently posted in front of their church. They are not part of our denomination, and we do not know anything about their beliefs or practices. It is unfortunate that they use a similar name to ours, causing people to confuse us with them. In our body of churches, we have a strict prohibition against the churches or pastors taking any position regarding political parties or candidates.
We teach our members to follow their own consciences about voting and to keep their political beliefs out of the church. We are sorry to hear of this incident in Harlan, IN, and we understand why such actions would offend many members of the community.
